$21.2 million project to build a brand new Rudisill Regional Library in north Tulsa has officially broken ground.
Tulsa City-County Library officials on Friday were joined by dozens of community leaders to celebrate the start of construction on the facility, which will be built at 1017 N. Greenwood Ave., about a half mile from the library’s current location and just north of B.S. Roberts Park.
TCCL CEO Kim Johnson, speaking at the event, said: “Today’s groundbreaking marks a significant milestone and the keeping of a promise that TCCL made to the citizens of Tulsa County, and that is to provide resources that inspire curiosity and creativity and offer opportunities for lifelong learning and to build and sustain a library system for future generations.
“We know that public libraries that adapt and grow are better able to strengthen the neighbors, the community and the county,” Johnson added. “Thanks to the generous donors who are here with us today, we are able to do just that.”
