It was imperative as we embarked on the design process that we have the support of the communities where these branches exist. We spent several years gathering input and ideas.
These efforts included:
- Speaking with city council representatives from the districts served
- Speaking with city managers and mayors from Broken Arrow, Owasso and Tulsa
- Speaking with representatives from the local chambers of commerce
- Conducting a feasibility study of those in the philanthropic community
- Hosting townhall meetings for library users from the four neighborhoods represented
- Hosting community Zoom meetings
The message we came away with was clear: these new buildings will be used and loved for years to come. They are seen as resources for individuals and families and also valued as economic development tools by community leaders.
